Vitamin C, also called ascorbic acid, is one of the water-soluble vitamins.
This means that vitamin C can only be absorbed in small quantities by the body. A continuous intake of vitamin C is therefore required.
Vitamin C fulfils various functions in the human body. One of these is its involvement in immune defence and it thereby contributes towards normal functioning of the immune system.
Turmeric comes from South Asia and belongs to the ginger family.
The yellow root has been used on a large scale for millennia in traditional Indian medicinal systems, such as Ayurveda, Unani and Siddha, and is officially listed in the Ayurvedic pharmacopoeia, Haridra. In many Asian countries, turmeric also has a long tradition of being used as a spice, dye and in medicine.
Dried powder produced from turmeric root contains around 2-4% curcuminoids, including curcumin. Curcumin is a natural vital substance to which health-promoting effects are attributed.
Frankincense (olibanum), from the plant Boswellia, has a long tradition of use in India, North Africa and the Middle East.
Similar to turmeric, Boswellia has been used as a remedy for millennia in India in Ayurvedic medicine.
The resin harvested from Boswellia trees contains many natural raw materials, such as essential oils, polysaccharides, terpenes and also the important boswellic acids.
Health-promoting effects are attributed to boswellic acids, just as to the vital substance curcumin from the turmeric root.
